First off, we
would like to thank the Missouri Department of Natural Resources for
considering and approving the Mid Missouri Mudslingers for this grant.
Be sure to check this page regularly to keep up to date on what is going on at Cooper Creek ORV area.
-
August 2009:
Paper work has been submitted to the D.N.R. for final
approval.
-
June 2009: Painting of the fence is on going. It is approximately 65% done.
-
January 2009: With the fence installation being complete, the date of January 24
has been set for the D.N.R. to inspect it to approve payment to the
contractor.
-
December 2008: Shane Skillett, our Government
Affairs Officer, has reported that the contractor has finished the fence,
invoiced us and finished within the planned budget.
-
October 2008: The contractor, Nowlin
Fencing out of Blackwater Mo., has started the installation of the
fence. As long as the lake remains at normal pool, the fence installation
should be done by the end of the month. Prices for the paint for the fence has
been gathered. Painting the fence will commence as soon as possible, weather
permitting.
-
September 2008: According to Rich Chiles with
Corps of Engineers, the grade work for the fence is complete. The contractor
for the fence will be contacted so the fence should be going in soon.
We
have received an extension for the completion date on this project from the
Department. of Natural Resources due to the lake level being up for so long
this summer.
-
August 2008: Due to bad weather over the winter, a very wet spring and early
summer, and the lake being up much of the summer there has been very
little actual physical work done on the project. But plans have been
set. The contractor for the fence along the north and south boundaries has
been chosen. The bull dowser work will be provided by the Corps of Engineers. We
have gotten a bid on the paint.
With the lake now down to almost normal
pool, the work should begin soon.
-
September 2007: The first work day that counted towards the in kind hours for the
grant was held. Most of our members were in attendance, as well as Don from
the Corps of Engineers. The main focus of the days work was to clean the
parking lot up and do some brush clearing along some of the main trials. This
is the first of many work days to be held over the next year and a
half.
-
May 2007: At the club meeting it was announced that actual work
from the grant proposal is to be started after the end of August. There will
be at least one work day, maybe more, scheduled before then. This time
will count
towards the labour match. All time put in by club members as well as
non club members will count
towards the match for the grant.
-
January
2007 : After two failed attempts
due to weather, on January 27 the Mid Missouri Mudslingers [ referred to as
"MMMS" ] had a club meeting to officially announce the
grant. Some of the basic terms of the grant were discussed. Among the major
points discussed were:
-
A 50% match of the grant with labour. It
was disclosed that anyone who participated on MMMS work days, wether club members
or not, their hours worked would count towards the match.
-
We have two years to fulfill the obligations
set forth during the grant process. A couple examples are to complete
projects stated in the grant application and to complete the 50% match in
labour.
-
Some the club officers are going to schedule
a meeting with the US Corps of Engineers { referred to as "COE" ] to discuss
the of the grant. If you have any questions you would like to have us ask
the COE, you can email them to us. We will try to get as many answers back
to you as we can. Dead line for questions is March 1 2007.
-
There was some discussion on ways to get more
people involved with the projects as Deepwater.
There will be much
more information to share in the coming weeks and months. It will be posted
as it comes through.
